I pray you are doing well in this most unusual time. The pandemic and the turmoil in our country certainly calls us to pause, pray, and seek God. A verse I read in Isaiah 26:3 encouraged me this morning and I want to share it in the hope that it will encourage you as well “You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast because he trusts in you.”

Despite the Covid restrictions, May and June have been busy months at The Journey Home. A top priority has been caring for our family living in the Next Step home. They are thriving and so thankful to be in a safe home, but we are looking forward to having more impact on their lives when they move back into TJH main building.

God has again answered prayers as only He can. We interviewed three qualified candidates for the House Manager position and are excited to announce that the position has been filled by a couple that have had a heart for TJH for many years. They plan to move in early to mid July. Our hope is to then move in two families that have been waiting and adjust to their needs. After that, we will slowly fill the home as Covid-19 restrictions open up and families are ready. TJH has received many applications as many more people are in need due to job losses, etc.

The Solar panels are installed and, as of Monday’s inspection we will begin generating solar power. God’s perfect timing, once again, as we begin to open the home to guests.

Thank you to the volunteers that have helped with mowing the grass, sewing projects and have completed the Child Protection Training online. In preparation for the opening, all volunteers are required to complete this online training, the volunteer application and the waiver. In addition, volunteers needed to attend the Redemptive Compassion Course offered in the Fall or contact us to borrow a book and meet with me to discuss it.  Those individuals that will be helping with meal training will also need to complete the online course sent to you. Please contact us if you need information about these opportunities. We greatly appreciate the time and effort you are giving to preparing to influence lives for now and for eternity through TJH.

Praises to God for:

  • His provision of House Managers
  • Completion of the solar field and an additional grant to cover all our out-of-pocket costs
  • The many ways He has prepared us for TJH opening during this time of restrictions

Please pray for:

  • Our House Managers as their family settles in and begins to minister at TJH
  • Discernment for selecting the applicants God wants at TJH
  • Wisdom about the right timing to move guests in with the Covid-19 restrictions
  • Volunteers to complete their training
  • For spiritual zeal among those who minister to families at TJH
  • For staff, volunteers and guests to build relationships as “Family in the Lord”
  • The finances needed to operate the home. The pandemic has limited program fee income while we still have operating expenses and two staff salaries.

I am so grateful for the privilege of making this journey with you,
Debby
