Construction is progressing well. Stop by and see the exciting progress on The Journey Home!

In anticipation of our first residents moving in to the home in January, we are contacting the many people who have signed up to volunteer. We want to get an accurate list and also have a team leader for each ministry. If you have not been contacted, please let us know ASAP what area you would like to serve in. Volunteer training will begin in Late September/early October, so we want to make sure we have you on the list.

Volunteer opportunities include: Praying for the Journey Home and the Residents; Leading Bible Studies; Providing Transportation; After School Tutoring; Mentoring/Discipling Individuals; Teaching Reading Skills; Assisting with Jobs and Job Applications; Instructing in Money Management Skills; Marriage/Parenting Classes; Teaching Cooking Skills/Meal Preparation; Maintenance of the Building; Decorating of the Rooms; Locating/Renovating Affordable Permanent Housing; Gardening; Grounds; Clerical work; and Fundraising.

Thank you so much for the joy of working together for our Lord. We can do so much more together than we can alone! We are so grateful for each one of you!

The cement is scheduled to be poured soon for the patio and front porch. We will then plan the brick walkway to the front entrance. Thank you to all of you who have already purchased a memorial brick. For those of you who would like to, but have not yet purchased a brick, we need all orders in by September 6th so that we can order the bricks. For a $100 donation to The Journey Home you may choose to honor or memorialize a friend or family member with an engraved brick. Each special brick is four inches by eight inches long and can accommodate one to three lines of text with up to 16 characters per line. Let us know and we will send you a brick form by email.

Please join us on Thursday, September 19th at 7pm at Mineral Baptist Church Fellowship Hall for the next update and planning meeting. We will begin the meeting with a brief training session on the principles of Redemptive Compassion for people in need. We will also be planning for the October 4th and 5th Annual Yard Sale held at Louisa Baptist Church. Donated items are appreciated and your help is greatly needed. Thank you!

Please join us in prayer for the the future residents and the operation of the home. We greatly appreciate your prayers and involvement as this vision from God becomes reality. How we all look forward to seeing God transform lives through this home. You have been a huge part of this process and we are so grateful for your partnership. It takes many committed laborers serving God to make TJH happen and we are so blessed to have the opportunity to accomplish so much more in partnership.
